Open Studios takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Participants may arrive and leave at any point during the Open Studio; the price is the same regardless of how much time is spent working.
UPON ARRIVAL: Participants must check in with the studio monitor. If you are attending open studio for the first time and are not enrolled in a class, you must read the class handbook (link coming soon) and become familiar with studio clean up and safety procedures.
COST: Price for each Weekend Open Studio is $30 (Students currently enrolled in a class at Black Hound enjoy a rate of $15 per Open Studio).
Participants must be comfortable working independently and without instruction to attend Open Studio. The Weekend Open Studio Manager will be present to answer questions but cannot provide instruction.
SUPPLIES: Tools and clay are available for purchase during Open Studio via The Black Hound Clay Studio online store.
FIRING: Firing fees are additional. Please see the Kiln Rental page for open studio rates. All pieces made during Open Studio must be labeled with full name before being put on the shelf.
STORAGE: Shelf space is available to Open Studio students attending more than one day of Open Studio. All shelves and work MUST be clearly labeled with your full name. Work, tools and clay that are not claimed after three months will be thrown away.
In the case of staff illness or emergency, Weekend Open Studios may be cancelled. Cancellations will be listed on our Instagram and on our Facebook page. In the case of cancellation, participants may use their Open Studio on another day.
