Zach Ozma, Saturday Open Studio Manager
Zach Ozma is a poet, potter, and social practice artist living in West Philadelphia. He received a BFA in Community Arts from California College of the Arts in 2015. Ozma is involved in a long-term embodied research practice in the Louis Graydon Sullivan Archive. His first book of poetry, Black Dog Drinking From An Outdoor Pool is forthcoming from Sibling Rivalry Press.
Open Studios takes place every Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Participants may arrive and leave at any point during the Open Studio; the price is the same regardless of how much time is spent working.
UPON ARRIVAL: Participants must check in with the Saturday Open Studio Manager Zach Ozma.
COST: Price for each Saturday Open Studio is $30 (Students currently enrolled in a class at Black Hound enjoy a rate of $15 per Open Studio).
PARTICIPANTS IN OPEN STUDIO MUST HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH CLAY. Participants must be comfortable working independently and without instruction to attend Open Studio. The Saturday Open Studio Manager will be present to answer questions but cannot provide instruction.
SUPPLIES: Tools and clay are available for purchase during Open Studio via The Black Hound Clay Studio Webstore.
FIRING: Firing fees are additional. Please see the Kiln Rental page for rates. All pieces made during Open Studio must be labeled with full name before being put on the shelf.
STORAGE: Shelf space is available to Open Studio students attending more than one day of Open Studio. All shelves and work MUST be clearly labeled. Work, tools and clay that are not claimed after three months will be thrown away.
In the case of staff illness or emergency, Saturday Open Studio may be cancelled. Cancellations will be listed on the front page of the BHCS website and on our Facebook page. In the case of cancellation, participants may use their Open Studio on another Saturday.
